Some of Katie\u2019s notable choral works\u00a0 \u201cThe Snow is Deep on the Ground,\u201d; a full setting of the Compline service for men\u2019s choir; <\/span>Forgotten Voices<\/span><\/i><\/a>, a song cycle utilizing texts from the homeless community; settings of the \u201cAt the Hour of Closing\u201d and \u201cLand of Rest\u201d for Brooklyn Choral Artists in Pretoria, South Africa, and numerous other commissions and compositions for choir, chamber ensemble, and orchestra. \u201cAt the Hour of Closing\u201d is the winner of the 2019 Missouri Choral Directors Association Opus Award, and Katie is a three time Finalist for the American Prize in Choral Composition, and her Forgotten Voices song cycle received the Honorable Mention in the Major Works category. Her first opera, Sweet Louisa,<\/em> premiered in Fall 2022 at Ozarks Lyric Opera. Recent conference performances include “Mother of Exiles” at the 2024 Missouri Music Educators Association Conference (a commission by Marshfield Jr. High School) and “Vre Kalo” at the 2024 SWACDA conference (performed by Springfield Chamber Chorus).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Katie’s musical theatre writing includes\u00a0 PEARL, a girl-rock reimagination of the <\/span>Scarlet Letter<\/span><\/i>, ONWARD at 59E59 in NYC, FARMERS MARKET THE MUSICAL, two educational musicals for the Monterey Bay Aquarium: IN THE SWIM and THINK BIG , and KELLY THE DESTROYER VS THE SPRINGFIELD COBRAS, a modern rock musical inspired by the Great Cobra Scare of 1953.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Katie is also the founding Artistic Director of the Springfield Street Choir<\/a>, a choir made up of singers who are currently or formerly homeless, and which has been featured nationally on <\/span>The Mystery Hour. <\/span><\/i>She is a passionate advocate for unsheltered and disadvantaged populations, and seeks to amplify their voices to create meaningful and lasting change.<\/span><\/p>\n
